Corporate Rowing

Our daughters Taylor and Dillon are both involved with their schools rowing team as coxs and on Sunday it was the parents turn to give it a go to raise money for the school. The generous people at Taylor-made Photography sponsored our seats in the boat and we had a terrific time. It was a buetiful day to be on the river at Penrith and we can now say that we have both rowed on an Olympic course. We trained twice a week for about four weeks at the incredible time of 5.30am in the morning, we even trained that day Sydney was blanketed in fog. That was a bit scarry not being able to see two feet in front of us and we kept saying it is going to lift soon but it never did. Rowing is such a technical sport I never realilised all the things you need to know to get the boat moving evenly through the water. We had to race in two heats and then the final and we were lucky enough to come third. Thanks to Liz who is a great coach and thanks to the rest of our crew for making it a really fun experience, especially Margie who I contiually soaked during every race.

self portraits

On the way back to the car Trudi and I stopped for coffee at the QVB and since we had the camera gear with us an impromptu self portrait session developed. I managed to get myself in most of the pics.

Sarah and James's pre wedding shoot

Trudi is shooting Sarah and James’s wedding in October and on Saturday we were treated to exclusive access to the architectural treasures of the Commonwealth Bank in Martin Place where James works for their pre wedding shoot. The interior is unbelievable grand with a combination of marble and stone and it was certainly a thrill to shoot there. They are such a friendly and easy going couple, Trudi had them lying on the ground, sitting on banisters and window ledges and nothing was a problem. Trudi is so looking forward to photographing their wedding which is going to be held at Wentworth falls in the Blue Mountains.

Maggie and Charlie's engagement session

I shot a great engagement session with Maggie and Charlie on Saturday, they are such a fun couple and I had an awesome time shooting them. Their wedding is coming up quickly at the beginning of June and I think it is going to a great day.
Trudi is going to help out on this one and it will be cool to have the whole team together at their wedding.
Recently Maggie had her braces removed after a few years of teeth torture and I must say her smile is fantastic and she looked wonderful. All the inconvenience was well worth it. At the beginning she was still a little shy and nervous in front of the camera and I did pick the busiest street in Paddington to do the shoot but she soon relaxed after a coffee and few one liners. Charlie is a natural; he does a great GQ pose. It was Maggie’s Birthday that day as well and after the shoot Charlie the romantic had organized a boat and picnic around Manly as a surprise for her. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!”

Kids Portrait

We have been Sandra’s official photographers since her wedding to Carmelo over ten years ago and in that time she has become a real evangelist for our photography business. She has created and referred so much work for us over the years whether it is weddings or portraits and we are deeply appreciative of all her efforts. Her home is like a shrine to Taylor-made Photography and to be honest it humbles me every time I visit. Yesterday I shot their kids portraits and here are a few of my favorites.

Melbourne Trip

Juanita, Trudi and I had a monster time in Melbourne last week end, we went there primarily for the photography trade show and photographic print judging awards but we also managed to sqeeze in a wedding on Friday for Juanita and a family portrait on Sunday morning for myself, as well as a bit of shopping and lots of cafes with photo friends from all over Australia. It was great to catch up with people we had not seen for some time. We all had such a great time. Melbourne is a party place.
The photo awards were very good to me as well. I won a gold award for the shot of the band at Shaun and Miseon’s wedding plus three silver awards. One for a shot of James at Dimi and James’s wedding which I shot just recently and an image of the Brides bouquet from Sara and Fabio’s wedding plus the image of Susan’s veil flying in the air with Karl looking on so excited and happy.
I am really excited to have won 4 awards with the 4 prints that I had entered. It is especially exciting to win a gold award with a reception image as that had not been done for some years.
WE could not stay for the awards ceremony because Taylor and Dillon were singing at the opera house with their school concert so my awards will be posted up soon.
Here are the images that I won with plus a few fun ones of our trip. Melbourne is such a funky place to shoot we are thinking of offering our clients the oportunity to have their portraits taken down there. What do you think?
