Sarah and James

Trudi and Juanita also had a wedding in the Blue Mountains photographing the nuptials of James and Sarah. These guys are such a lovely, fun couple and their reception was in the historic Hydro Majestic Hotel with its funky Art Deco style, most of their guest stayed with them in the grand old hotel and partied til the early hours. After finishing my wedding after the waltz I ventured up the road to the Hydro to find all of their guests grooving on the dance floor to the sounds of the six piece band. Trudi and Juanita had great time and created some amazing pictures. Our good friend Isabella did a wonderful job with Sarah’s make up and Sarah looked gorgeous in white, James also looked very handsome in tails.

Katrina and Darren

Katrina and Darren met through Lava life two years ago and for the last 18 months they have been planning their wedding and I remember Katrina commenting how surreal the day was after planning it for so long. Their wedding was held at Everglades Gardens in Leura which is in the Blue Mountains and they had an authentic Pagan ceremony complete with brooms, swords, candles and cake. A Pagan ceremony has it's origins from Stonehenge and loosely relates to God being the Earth, Air and Water. Katrina looked fabulous in her gown created by Dianne Lewis, which had a unique and theatrical 40’s style to it. Darren looked great also and his best man David plus many friends made the trip from the UK to help with the celebrations. It was a fun day and the Bridal party was so nice and easy to work with. I really enjoyed covering the day.

Pippin and Ray's Wedding

Our good friends Pippin and Ray got married on Friday and there wedding was an absolutely fantastic event. Pippin and Ray are both leading wedding photographers so between them they have seen a few nuptials and I must say theirs was beautiful. The ceremony was held in an abandoned warehouse at the Everleigh train stations and the bride made a spectacular entrance with the 50’s style limo driving her right up to the isle. Talk about different. Pippin looked spectacular in her kind of lime green wedding dress complete with mini top hat and sparkles. Pippin had been working hard at the Gym for months to look in better shape for the wedding and the way she glowed it was well worth the exercise even though she mentioned that she had not been able to take a breathe since putting on the dress.
Trudi and I with many of our photographer comrades had such a wonderful time at the reception the food and the ambience were just first class and I had so much fun on the dance floor. It was great being a guest and being able to enjoy the night more with out the need to take pictures as that responsibility was in the hands of one of the world’s best photographers Jerry Giohinis. He was voted by an American photo magazine as being in the worlds top ten wedding photographers and he worked his butt off for Pippin and Ray and the pics I saw on the back of his camera were brilliant. I am so looking forward to seeing their pics when they are ready. Pippin and Ray it was so lovely for Trudi and myself to take part in your wedding celebration and we really enjoyed everything and it was great to see the both of you so happy. (ps the pics accompanying this blog entry were taken with our point and shoot camera and not by Jerry)

"Dear Darren,

Thank you so much for the wonderful photos you took on the day. The enthusiasm and creativity were clearly reflected on the photos you captured!
Thank you also for making the day fun for us and everyone, despite the marathon and 37C heat! We really had a wonderful day and the joy, excitement, and love were captured for us to relive the day.
We've enjoyed the slideshow and so have our families; we're looking forward to our album and showing it off to our friends and family.
Many thanks and best regards,

Farris and Helena Halim"

Paula and Ricky

From there it was of to Leichhardt to photograph the Paula and Ricky’s family, what a ball of energy these kids were. They loved jumping on the bed, running around and loved posing for the camera but most of all they loved looking at the images on the back of the camera. At one stage I had all the kids climbing all over me to get a look at themselves on the camera, it was such great fun. After shooting in their apartment we ventured down on the street for some more pics against this great green wall while shooting there I was spotted on all fours chasing Oliver for a pic by Paul from VanderVideo who was filming a wedding and by Stuart and Amy whose wedding I shot this time last year and coincidently they had the same reception venue Curzon Hall as Paula and Ricky.

Shane and Alison

Next I ventured over the bridge to Lavender Bay to photograph Alison and Shane’s family. They might look familiar because we had a display album made up from their wedding for a few years that you might have seen in our studio. They have just welcomed a new addition to their family, Duncan is just six weeks old and his big sister Isabella is just so happy to have baby brother.

Portrait Saturday

My Saturday this week was jam packed full of fantastic family portraits. I had such a great time photographing all the kids they were all so great for the camera. What was very cool was that all the families were past wedding clients that we had shot, which means we must be doing something right for these guys to keep coming back.

The day started with Sandra and Carmello’s family at the beach, Madison and Xavier are both such great kids and I love being able to capture their spirit on film (memory card). Sandra and Carmello looked great, like they were both styled for a Vogue magazine shoot and I love their happy expressions in the picture of them holding Xavier. He is a very cute boy. Madison has been having a bit of a hard time lately after being diagnosed with Diabetes and has to have endure frequent blood sugar test and insulin injections but she is battling like a real trooper and we sincerely hope it will not be to much trouble in the future.

Annie and Josh wedding

Annie and Josh’s wedding flew by so quickly yesterday before Juanita I knew, it was time for the farewell circle and I think that is the mark of a great wedding. Annie and Josh are just such lovely people, they are very much in love and have loads of great friends and family. Their wedding was held at St Stephens’s church in Newtown and the reception was at the lovely Vibe Hotel in Rushcutters Bay. There was not a lot of time between the church and reception about 30 minutes and so we headed to Mckell Park to shoot their portraits. Mckell park is such a great location because there just so many options and when time is limited it is best to have a location that can give so many different looks. Plus Josh and Annie are so good in front of the lens and that makes my job a lot easier. Annie would be the first to admit that she can be bit shy or reserved but yesterday we were able to bring out her confident side, she just looked amazing. I remember seeing her for the first time in the afternoon at her parents place and just thinking wow!!
We also got lots of great feedback from the guests after presenting the slideshow so that was cool too.
